Ultimately, Michelle Visage delivered Freya’s final verdict. “Michelle said, ‘Freya, it is not your time,’ but what I think she really meant was, ‘We need you to come back, do even better, and make your win justified,” Freya told 9Entertainment in an exclusive interview.

Freya took the critique in stride, teasing: “I’ll see you on an All Stars or a vs The World season, Michelle!”
On joining Season 4:
For Freya, landing a spot on Drag Race Down Under Season 4 was nothing short of surreal. “Joining the cast was a true dream come true,” she said. “It was not only a shock or a surprise, but it felt surreal.”
Originally hailing from Philadelphia, USA, and of Lebanese and Puerto Rican descent, Freya relocated to Australia in 2011.
She began her drag journey in 2019, quickly becoming a standout performer and a regular at the hottest gay clubs along the Gold Coast.
As a member of Brisbane’s Drag Haus of Thicc, a POC collective, she’s passionate about bringing innovation and diversity to the industry.
Preparation and highlights:
When it came to preparing for the competition, Freya leaned on her chosen family. “I gathered my drag family around me, and we were like, ‘Right, let’s get this done,'” she shared.
Reflecting on her time in the competition, she revealed her proudest moments: “The acting challenge, the makeover challenge, and the roast were my highlights. I’m not really known as the funny queen of Brisbane, but now I think I’ll be booked for roasts all over!”
Despite her accomplishments, Freya admitted to overthinking some decisions. “The only thing I’d do differently is not get so in my head about trying to do something different. Then I realised I was on a season with Lazy Susan and thought, ‘Oh, I probably should have just worn a sheer dress.'”
One of Freya Armani’s most intense moments was a lip sync to What About Me against fellow queen Lucina Innocence.
Despite not knowing the song well, the performance was deeply personal for Freya. “I’ve always been someone who’s constantly underestimated and overlooked. I think I performed that song very emotionally because I felt the lyrics,” she said. “It may have come across in the performance.”
Lessons learned:
Looking back, Freya discovered something important about herself during the competition.
“Watching myself back, I learned I do not like to quit. Even if I’m not great at something, I will keep persevering and pushing to make it to the end.”
What’s next?
Freya isn’t slowing down anytime soon.
Fans can catch her performing across Brisbane and Queensland, with upcoming shows in Adelaide in January and at DragCon UK the same month. “We’ve also got the Drag Race Down Under Season 4 tour with RTD Events happening in March,” she said.
“Get your tickets and I’ll see you there!”
