RuPaul’s Drag Race star Morphine Love Dion is “grateful to be alive” after being involved in a terrifying car crash.
Morphine – who appeared on season 16 of the reality TV series – was injured in the horrific smash which saw one person killed and several others taken to hospital. Local news reports state that the accident happened on the 10 Freeway in Los Angeles, close to the Jefferson Park locale.
A statement posted to Morphine’s Instagram story read: “Saturday night, Morphine was in a serious car accident while in an Uber. She suffered multiple injuries but is grateful to be alive. Please keep her in your thoughts and prayers. Some space and time is appreciated as she focuses on healing.”

It appears that Morphine was in the car alongside Canada’s Drag Race season three star Kaos, who also took to Instagram to assure fans they were ok. They wrote: “Just so everyone knows I am ok just been on bed rest.
“I will be making a post explaining what happened this weekend once I am in the right headspace and also can explain it all and the accident. For now resting and sorry won’t be posting any dragon stuff right now either that will come later prob next week!”
They added: “If anyone has posts or pics or stories of me with them from Dragcon I will be resharing those though as they are uplifting and making me feel positive and better!!! So feel free to share!”
A report by Entertainment Weekly claims that the pair were involved in the accident at roughly 3.30am on Sunday morning with a California Highway Patrol responding to a one-vehicle crash. However, it has been claimed that other cars also crashed at the scene causing a pile-up.
Morphine starred on season 16 of Drag Race
One person is reported to have been trapped in their car and to have later died from their injuries. An Uber spokesperson told Entertainment Weekly: “Our hearts go out to everyone impacted by this gut-wrenching crash. We are working to get in touch with the driver and riders to check on their well-being.”
Morphine and Kaos had been attending the annual two-day convention RuPaul’s DragCon in LA. Morphine’s season 16 co-stars Xunami Muse and Geneva Karr shared her post on Instagram as they sent their best wishes. Xunami wrote: “Send my sister some love. Her and everyone else involved are doing fine.
“These were the scariest 2 days ever but so happy they’re all with us and recovering. If you haven’t heard from me these past 2 days then this is why, I’ll get to you when I’m ready.” Geneva added: “Surgeries went well and now to a speedy recovery. Love you hermana.”
