Todd Chrisley was turned off by wife Julie’s post-prison appearance: ‘Started thinking about going back’

Todd Chrisley admitted he was turned off by his wife Julie Chrisley’s appearance after prison.

“I’m not going to lie. When I first saw you when I got out of that car, I started thinking about going back,” the unfiltered reality star told his spouse on their “Chrisley Confessions” podcast Wednesday.

“But then I thought, let me embrace this. This is a moment.”

Julie, 55, shocked by her husband’s confession, asked, “Are you kidding me, right now?,” which prompted him to further admit, “It was a rough moment because I had never seen you dark in my life.”

She then reminded him, “Well, I know that, Todd, but I didn’t have any choice.”

In May, the “Chrisley Knows Best” alums were released from federal prison after being pardoned by President Trump. They had served a little over two years of their sentences for fraud and tax evasion.

Julie’s hair was the most drastic change she had while behind bars, as she had been known for her blond locks, which had become brown with gray roots.

The mom of three said on her podcast about the snap that circulated online, “Was there a horrible picture that came out of me? Yes, but the way I flip that is ‘Look at me now!’

“Now, people think I look even better because that horrible picture was out there to begin with.”

Todd dug himself into an even deeper hole, though, by shading his wife: “I will say, you set the bar low, you had nowhere to go but up.”

Julie told him of the comment, “Now that wasn’t very nice,” but he doubled down: “I’m just trying to be honest. That’s why we have ‘Chrisley Confessions 2.0.’”

The matriarch then explained her locks were dark because she dabbled with hair dye in prison.

She shared that a fellow inmate named Melissa used to work at a salon and did highlights for her, but she got released within months, leaving Julie to rely solely on box coloring until she decided to go natural.

“I’ll admit, I looked crazy,” the reality star confessed. “But now, see, people think when they see me, ‘Oh, my God, you look so good!’ and I’m thinking, ‘Yeah, because you saw that picture of me looking crazy.’”

Despite her husband’s remarks about her hair, Julie also debunked any divorce rumors in the episode.

She said, “We’re 30 years in now … so five years from now, 10 years from now, whatever. We’re still going to be together. So guess what? I don’t really care.”

Todd pointed out the discourse about his marriage was a “hot button” for him, though, because it’s so “sacred.”
