The drama continues in Fair City this week as Juliet experiments with her new sugar daddy website and Fr Liam tackles the shocking news that he has fathered a child.
On this Sunday’s episode, Juliet pats herself on the back when her sugar daddy website grows in popularity, but tries her best to keep it a secret from Alex and Mondo – who find out anyway.
Juliet also stands up a prospective baby daddy and tells a relieved Alex she chickened out of meeting her date.
“What was he like? Did he get weird?” Alex asks in the trailer.
“He didn’t get a chance to. I took one look at him and I left,” Juliet shrugs.
Meanwhile, things get heated on the other side of Carrigstown as Carol confronts Ger about who Hayley’s real father is.
“You want to talk about fathers do you?” an angry Carol asks, “Let’s start with Hayley’s. Why don’t we give them both a call now? We can hash it all out together.”
Ger looks shocked that her secret has been uncovered and replies: “What are you talking about?”
“I know Liam’s her father,” Carol replies.
Last Sunday’s episode featured Ger Lynch, played by Tina Kellegher, asking Fr Liam Plunkett to hear her confession.
She then went on to make the shocking revelation that he is the father of her daughter Hayley.
The storyline has caused controversy, with Kerry priest Fr Kevin McNamara saying that it was “disrespectful” and “hurtful.”
To add insult to injury, the episode was broadcast on Divine Mercy Sunday, which focuses on the sacrament of confession.
RTÉ have since issued an apology, adding that the timing of the episode was an unfortunate coincidence.
A spokesperson for the broadcaster said: “There was no intention to cause offence with this story. It is most unfortunate that this episode transmitted on Divine Mercy Sunday.
“This was a complete coincidence, which occurred because of episodes dropped from the schedule for reasons of Covid-19 and restrictions in filming.
“There was absolutely no intention to align our story with that particular day, and we can understand how that might have seemed targeted and therefore specifically disrespectful.
“Fair City apologises for that unfortunate coincidence.”
