Fair City’s Amilia Keating ‘The right house will find you’ as they get cracking on renovations

Owning your own house these days is, for many, a far-off dream, and that’s why Fair City’s Amilia Keating and her husband Conall thank their lucky stars that they finally have a place to call their own.

The couple who share three children, Reggie, Sonny, and Bowie, announced this summer that they had finally got the keys.

The couple who share three children, Reggie, Sonny, and Bowie, announced this summer that they had finally got the keys.

However, moving is far from a walk in the park, and with three children, this certainly adds to the challenge – one that the Keatings were more than happy to accept.

Attending this year’s Marie Keating Golf Classic, the couple took a night off from painting and emptying boxes to attend the special event.

Chatting to EVOKE Amilia, looking beautiful in a sky blue dress and still on cloud nine, told us ‘We are up the walls, but we are in and it’s liveable.’ The family had originally been living in her parents’ granny flat, where they had one bed, one bathroom, and when the boys came along, they told us that they had to turn the sitting room into a bedroom and give the boys the room.

So, as you can imagine, moving into a four-bedroom house is something very surreal to both of them.

When it comes to decorating the Fair City star said, ‘The only room redone fully was the bathroom.’ The house, which is 60 years old, needs a huge amount of TLC, but as Amelia tells us, ‘it has so much character that we’ll be making it our own over time.’ Looking back, she says, ‘When they say the right house will find you, I truly believe it.’

And for the Keatings, it is all hands on deck. ‘The kids have been great. It’s a huge change, but they have been absolute rockstars. They have even been helping put IKEA stuff together! When they see an IKEA box, they get excited. We’ve really tried to include them in making it feel like our home.’

‘They have their own rooms, which is a huge privilege we are aware of. We are blessed with our boys. And they adore each other.’

And while Amilia may be spending most of her days in her paint overalls and perfecting her DIY skills, she also has another job on her mind- her podcast.

Along with her good friend, ex-Tallafornia star Kelly Donegan, who has just given birth to her second child, the girls are getting ready for another season of  Was Your Ma On The Telly, and they have a few surprises in the bag, so make sure to watch this space!
