Jewels Sparkles reportedly flouted this RuPaul’s Drag Race lip-sync rule, Willam claims

Jewels Sparkles reportedly ignored this production rule on RuPaul’s Drag Race season 17 (WOW)
RuPaul’s Drag Race season 17 finalist Jewels Sparkles reportedly flouted this new rule from production on set, according to Drag Race firebrand Willam.
If there’s one thing RuPaul’s Drag Race knows how to do, it’s a reveal.
Think Sasha Velour’s rose petals, Roxxxy Andrews’s original wig-under-wig moment and Yvie Oddly’s criminally underrated All Stars 7 wig-into-bald-cap-into-wig double bluff.
And even on season 17, we’ve had some belters, with even a few wigs revealing into bare heads (cc: Kori King and Lana Ja’Rae).
But speaking on Drag Race recap podcast Race Chaser, season four alumnus and perpetual behind-the-scenes tea spiller Willam explained to co-host and All Stars 2 champ Alaska Thunderf**k that production now have a new rule when it comes to reveals – and it’s that they have to be notified.
“Do you know that the girls now, if there’s a reveal [in their costumes?], are supposed to tell production? And let them know before hand? You have to, it’s like mandated,” Willam said to Alaska.
But a well behaved drag queen never made herstory, as Ms Sparkles didn’t play by the rules following the season’s makeover challenge, in which she wore a giant fur coat – until she shed it during her lipsync against Onya Nurve.
“Jewels wore that fur coat on [the Drag Race] set for eleven hours and didn’t take it off,” Willam said. “Nobody knew she had a reveal on under it. Eleven hours.”
To which Alaska replied, “That‘s a stunt. Good for her.”
During their legendary lip-sync – the season’s only RuPaul-anointed double shantay – Jewels shed her short lilac wig into the diva’s trademark black human unit, with the coat coming off for something a little more hoochie.
Jewels, Onya, Lexi Love and Sam Star have all reached the top four of season seventeen of RuPaul’s Drag Race, with four ferocious track records between them
But before the splashiest finale yet, the ten eliminated queens are set to return for a good old-fashioned Lip-Sync Lalaparuza to snatch the title of Queen of She Done Already Done Had Herses, which was won last year by Morphine Love Dion.
New episodes of RuPaul’s Drag Race season 17 air on Fridays on MTV in the US and WOWPresents Plus internationally.
